My laptop did it to me again. I shut it down as normal but in the morning when I started it up nothing was going my way. It seems it hadn't shut down properly and loads of stuff was missing. Tech stuff that made the darn thing work. After some time trying to fix it the only solutiuon was to set it back to factory settings. SOB!!!! I had all my photos in the BT Cloud so no problem there I thought.....HA!  BT had my piccies and it didn't want to let go. After nearly 2 hours with a BT IT guy we were no further forward. Eventually I figured it out on my own......just download all those squillions of piccies bit by tiny bit.  After that it was a case of reinstalling all my PS and Filter Forge and free stuff that I had installed to make my walls. Then there were all my brushes and fonts.........thank goodness most of my other stuff was on my external hard drive but I don't think I will be putting too much faith in the cloud.  It's like trying to get a hostage back from a very determined kidnapper.
